NATO Partnership Training and Education Centers Working Group and Marketplace
11 and 12 October 2017, Brussels, BELGIUM

     The DRESMARA delegation, composed of LTC Denis-Nicolae FLORESCU/Head of the Educational Planning, Secretariat, Public and International Relations Office and Mrs. Gianina MIHĂILĂ and Mr. Dorin DUICULETE, participated in the NATO Partnership Training and Education Centers Working Group and Marketplace, organized by the Supreme Allied Commander Transformation (SACT) at the NATO HQ in Brussels, BELGIUM, between 11 and 12 Oct 2017

Brigadier General (ROU) Eduard SIMION, PhD, SACT Representative in Europe and Colonel (USA) Timothy E. DREIFKE, NATO School Oberammergau (NSO) Commandant, opened the event, welcoming the representatives from twenty-four education and training centers and the NSO, came together at NATO HQ to introduce themselves to the wider NATO community and to present their educational offers and the overarching missions and objectives of the respective institutions.

Brigadier General Eduard SIMION and Colonel Timothy E. DREIFKE have emphasised the key role of education and training centers in supporting NATO objectives in partnership with non-Alliance countries.

Ambassador Alejandro Alvargonzález, NATO Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs and Security Policy and Lieutenant General Jan Broeks, Director General of NATO International Military Staff, addressed the PTEC community representatives, highlighting its proactive participation in NATO initiatives to enhance interoperability by conducting lectures or providing SMEs in support of NATO's partnership programs and by contributing to multinational education and training activities in a variety of critical areas of NATO cooperation: Projecting Stability, Counter Terrorism, Languages, Counter IED , Cultural Awareness, Emerging Security Challenges.

The DRESMARA stand was also visited by Mrs. Teodora Crina POPESCU, Head of the Defense Section of the Romanian Permanent Delegation to NATO, Lieutenant General Dumitru SCARLAT, PhD, Military Representative of Romania to NATO and the EU, Captain (N) Vicențiu-Valentin CĂTĂNEANU Deputy Military Representative of Romania to NATO and EU military and civilian personnel from the delegations and representations of NATO and partner countries and from NATO structures or agencies.

The annual Marketplace offered the opportunity for the PTEC community representatives to exchange experience and create new connections, discuss more synergies and possibilities for cooperation, and also attract more members into the network, which in turn helps connect allied forces and partners through collaboration in education and training.
