Workshop within the NATO Defense Education Enhancement Program / DEEP – Mongolia
Between 22 and 26 May 2023, Ms. Aura CODREANU, associate professor, PhD, conducted, as part of an international team of experts in adult learning, a master instructor workshop for the instructors and academic staff working with the Mongolian National Defense University (MNDU) in Ulaanbatar, Mongolia.
The aim of the event was to build the university’s self-reliance and sustainable capacity to create and deliver quality curriculum based on modern and contemporary techniques applicable to adult learning environments. By the end of the event the participants enhanced their ability to improve the quality of their lessons’ delivery by using interactive learning methods and assessment tools, while also employing peer- assessment and self-assessment to improve the quality of their lesson (content, instruction, assessment, time management, confidence).
The international team of experts also focused along with workshop participants on scoping the need of the university for designing, developing and implementing its own train the trainers program focused on contemporary learning and assessment methods. As such the participants had to reflect and identify the best means by which to integrate their individual lesson plans into an overall curriculum targeting the needs of their peers from within the MNDU.
