"Continuity and discontinuity in Romania's defense strategy during the 100th anniversary of the achievement of the Great Union"

On November 20, 2018, DRESMARA director, COL Florin-Eduard GROSARU, professor, PhD, attended the National Conference "Continuity and discontinuity in Romania’s defense strategy during the 100 years since the Great Union" with representatives of the civil and military academia, officials of the state institutions, diplomats, parliamentarians, former Foreign and Defense Ministers, representatives of the business environment and associative defense industry.

The event has been organized by the Defense and Security Monitor, a member of MEDIAFAX, in partnership with the Ministry of National Defense.

The conference was structured on four panels, as follows:

  • "National security from the consolidation of unity, independence and sovereignty of the unitary national state to the bankruptcy of European peace";
  • "National Security during the Cold War. Alone against everyone? ";
  • "Recovering European Identity and Democracy. The future of national security is strategic surprises or strategic anticipatory thinking? ";
  • "National security and common security in the era of (and) global stability and (in) major security concerns. Is the Romanian economy ready to face the security challenges of the future?”

According to the press agency MEDIAFAX „the conference aimed to provide insights into conceptual differences and theoretical convergence of national security in its evolution, in the course of the transformations that marked the succession of the historical sequences of the last hundred years.
The debate aimed to identify national security characteristics in each period, a defining influence on the forms of its dominant currents of thought, expression formats strategic solutions institutionalization and ways of communicating its fundamental parts.”
