NATO “Advanced Distributed Learning” Working Group (ADL WG)

Between 23 and 27 April 2018, MAJ OGÎGĂU-NEAMȚIU Florin, Head of the IT Compartment of DRESMARA, participated in the meeting of the NATO Working Group for Advanced Distributed Learning (ADL) within the PfP Consortium of Defense Academies and Institutes of Security Studies, hosted by NATO Defense College, Rome

37 representatives of defense education and training institutions from NATO and partner countries took part in this event.

During the activities there were presented current aspects of distributed learning, national initiatives in the related field, the evolution of international projects in the field developed through the Defense Education Enhancement Programme (DEEP), the problems encountered with the ADL programs in the education systems and ways in which technology can be integrated into the educational programs to take advantage of it.

Emerging technologies and new developments in the modern educational field have been analyzed as well as the fundamental issues of changing thinking about ADL and how organizations react to it. In this respect, Mr. Paul Turkettle, NATO e-Learning Program Manager, pointed out that ACT identified ADL as a key component of NATO's educational programs and will, along with simulation and modeling, become a key element of a new directions to be developed.
