War Veterans Day
On 29.04.2024 the director of DRESMARA, Colonel Florin-Eduard GROSARU, professor, PhD, participated in the military and religious ceremony for the celebration of War Veterans Day. The activity, organized by the Institution of the Prefect of Brasov County and the Brasov Garrison in Unirii Square, at the monument to the unknown soldier, brought together local and county officials, commandants of units from Brasov belonging to the Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and other structures of the National System of defense, public order and national security, members of the Association of War Veterans from the Ministry of National Defense - Brasov branch, retired military personnel, Brasov residents of all ages.
This day was established in recognition of the merits of veterans for the defense of independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity and the interests of Romania by Government Decision no. 1222/10.10.2007, published in the Official Gazette no. 699/17.10.2007. The date chosen is the one on which, in 1902, King Carol I promulgated, at the request of the survivors of the Independence War (1877-1878), the High Decree by which the title of "war veteran" was established for the first time, in accordance with Convention of the European States in Geneva, in honor of the soldiers who fought in this war.
